What To Expect in The Classes

In Susan’s teaching she guides and facilitates something in the student that is already there.  This enables the student to become their own teacher, carrying out their own inquiry.  Yoga becomes about self discovery.  Giving yourself this space and time each day to move your body and make your mind still and quiet will ensure you don’t lose your way by getting caught up in the mind, which is always worrying, trying to control or compete and trying to solve everything.  Make it a daily habit and rise before the sun joining the Hatha Style Yoga live stream at 5.45am Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

If this is too early for you the classes are uploaded onto a closed Fb Group  and can be accessed 24 hours a day/7 days per week for your convenience.

Also as Yin Yoga is important to keep the joint and connective tissue healthy by increasing circulation in the joints and improve flexibility, so every Monday evening at 5:45 pm we will also have Yin Classes live.

Note there is no Live streamed classes on Public holidays

What to expect from the classes

In these live streaming classes Sue will share Yoga Postures, breathing exercises and Ayurveda’s emphasis on meditation.

Ayurveda recommends asanas as its most important lifestyle recommendation for exercise. It also prescribes asanas as an important treatment measure for various diseases. Half of Ayurvedic treatment is what goes in the body, which is mainly food. The other half is what the body does by way of expression, which is mainly exercise. Asana deals with this. Asana and food therefore are the two most important physical treatment measures in Ayurveda. On the level of Prana, herbs [ often found in your kitchen cupboard ] are the food and pranayama is the exercise. For these to work properly, the foundation of right posture and right diet in the physical body are necessary.

The yoga postures treat all diseases but are rarely a complete treatment in themselves. Asanas are to release tension at a deep level from tissues, organs and joints to keep the body in the best possible health. Provide specific positions and movements designed to strengthen and stretch the musculature to effectively move the body away from small pains and illnesses back to perfect and normal balance. They keep the spinal column subtle in order to create the optimal flow of energy through the nerves that enervate the organ and glandular system. And, perhaps most importantly, they begin a systematic cleansing of the tissues preparing the body for more advanced yogic practices.

Breathing exercises. Yoga teachers us how to master prana [our life force]. In the classes you will learn simple breathing exercises, named [Pranayama] in Sanskrit to help purify and energise your body and mind to prepare for meditation practice.

Meditation is the essential and culminating practice of the greater system of Yoga. Of the eight limbs of yoga, the three inner aspects – dharana [concentration], dhyana [meditation] and samadhi [absorption]- refer specifically to the practice of meditation. Ayurveda as mind-body medicine promotes meditation as one of its main therapies. Much of Ayurveda’s popularity comes from its emphasis on meditation and related techniques of mantra and pranayama.
